We understand the concerns parents have during these very difficult times but would like to reassure you, all steps to keep our children, staff and parents safe are based upon government guidelines. So what can you and your children expect from, ‘Pippins Day Care’?
Who can/cannot come to nursery?
Children must not come to nursery if they are poorly (i.e. with a temperature and a cough)
Children must not come to nursery if someone in their household has COVID-19 symptoms
Children who have been identified as a ‘shielded’ person should not come to nursery.
Children who live in the same household as a shielded person should also not come to nursery, as strict Physical Distancing cannot always be guaranteed.
Infection Protection
Children will be taught the importance of washing hands for 20 seconds regularly. This will happen on arrival, when leaving the nursery and throughout the morning. Paper towels will be used for drying. Hand gel will also be provided. Upon arrival, children will have their temperature taken using a digital thermometer, if your child’s temperature registers above 38 degrees, they will not be allowed to come into nursery.
We are teaching our children, ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’, and encourage parents to use this at home as daily practice too.
For now our soft toys are in storage; strict cleaning procedures are in place, prior to, after and during the morning session. Toilets, sinks, flush buttons and taps are wiped down after each usage; children will be reminded of the need for cleaning as a matter of practice.
What can I expect during a session?
Nursery should still be an enjoyable journey of exploration and discovery. We will be utilising our outdoor area as much as possible, our safe and secure garden area provides many learning opportunities for our children, even in welly-boots and a raincoat.
If we do need to be indoors, windows and doors will remain open to ensure maximum ventilation.
No toys and other items are to be brought into nursery at this time and unfortunately we are not allowed to send any artwork home. After the morning session, toys and surfaces used will be sanitised ready for use the following day.
PPE (mask, gloves and face shield) will only be worn if a child is taken ill. The child will be isolated with a staff member and you will be called to collect your child immediately. If your child tests positive for Covid-19, they will not be allowed to return for 14 days.
We will adopt, ‘spacing’ between children and adults, (at circle and snack time).
Keeping you up to date
Guidance is changing regularly, don’t worry, we will keep you fully up to date throughout. Covid-19 guidance procedures, containing all the information needed, will be given to all parents to sign and if you have any queries, the staff will always be able to help you.
Let’s stay safe together, practice social distancing and protect our children.
